Gishurru: Life of Many
Gishurru: Life of Many is a Consciousness Simulator for the HTC Vive that asks users to contend with the distortions caused by their own emotions, as they make a journey from life to death. The user will traverse eight distinct life stages: birth, childhood, adolescence, puberty, adulthood initiation, adulthood acceptance, adulthood crowning, and exile, ending with death. The world of Gishurru is made up of six professions, each with their own mechanics, objects, and characters which the user will have to understand if they wish to advance from life-stage to life-stage. As they interact with objects, corresponding pieces of brain material are created, and it is up to the user to find the right connection inside their brain. If the user neglects the order of their brain, the neurotransmitters serotonin, noradrenaline, and dopamine, represented in the simulator as a kind of emotional currency, will begin to leak into their brain and change their current emotion. These effects are experienced by the player through camera and audio-warping effects, which start off with low intensity, but at their peek inhibit the user from being able to clearly navigate the virtual world.
